Prayer Shawl Ministry
St. John's Prayer Shawl Team meets the third Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm in the Upper Room. The team lovingly knits and crochets prayer shawls that are given to members, friends, and neighbors who are facing difficult times. Janet Urbick is the convener of this group.
You don't need to know how to knit to join this group! Experienced crafters are ready to show you how knitting and praying can reduce your stress while sharing God's peace with others.
Prayer of Blessing
May God's grace be upon this shawl and upon you . .
Warming, Comforting, Enfolding and Embracing.
May this mantle be a safe haven . . .
A sacred place of security and well-being. . .
Sustaining and embracing in these challenging and
difficult times as well as in good times.
May this shawl be an anchor and a reminder that you are:
Cradled in hope, Kept in joy, Graced in peace,
and wrapped in love. Amen
Prayer Team
The Prayer Team handles prayer requests and reminds the congregation of opportunities for growing in prayer. They meet the first Thursday of the month at 9:00 am in the Upper Room.
Motorheads
One of our more unusual "laying on of hands" ministries is our automotive ministry-one of those ways to get greasy for God! We receive donated vehicles, perform necessary repairs, and get them into the hands of people who need reliable transportation. Often, a decent running vehicle is the difference between having a job and being unemployed.
WE HAVE A GREAT NEED FOR USED VEHICLES, ESPECIALLY MID-SIZE OR ECONOMY CARS, AND MINIVANS. We'd prefer 1995 and newer vehicles, but will consider all. Vehicles in need of minor to moderate repairs are fine.
We meet many Monday evenings, but not as regularly as we wish. If you'd like to do some "laying on of hands" or even just learn more about cars and car care, check in with one of us. We'd love to include teens from inside and outside the church, especially over summer. We're glad to give advice on repairing, buying, or selling cars. And, if you're getting a newer vehicle, consider donating your current one. If you are able to itemize deductions, you can count as a contribution either the fair market value (if we give the car to someone) OR the amount we get for the vehicle (should we sell it.)
And remember, "everyone auto know Jesus"!

Good Samaritan Team
This is a group that we really need to form. Many people are in need of monetary assistance as well as other types of assistance. This team could work on raising, managing, and distributing funds to people in a loving and supportive way.
Refugee Task Force
Lutheran Social Services (working with Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services) asked us to partner with Our Savior's Lutheran/West Bend in 2006 to sponsor a Meskhetian Turk family eligible to immigrate from Russia to the United States. We accepted the invitation and agreed to make our parsonage available for the family to live in while they get established in this new land.
We partnered with the family in a number of ways: helping with transportation; enrollment in English classes; doctor's appointments; and all the adjustments necessary to start a new life in America. In exchange, we've been blessed by their kindness and generosity, and by getting to know and work with a dedicated group from Our Savior's. Thanks to all who have helped and offered to help!
Ministry Partners
In 2006, St. John's began a three-year stewardship campaign. This time we chose to tithe gifts to the appeal and share our blessings with four of our ministry partners. Each of these partners benefits from our prayers, monetary gifts, and gifts of time and energy.
